LANDON DONOVAN'S role with League One side Lincoln has baffled football fans.
Supporters were left confused after learning the former Premier League star has a bizarre job in the Football League.
The former USA forward has been Lincoln's strategic advisor since 2021.
However, some fans only discovered this on Monday after the club wished Donovan a happy 42nd birthday on social media.
Reacting to their post, one fan wrote on X: "Sorry, this is news, somebody explain please."
Another simply commented: "What?!"

A third supporter added: "This is not an account I expected to wish Landon Donovan a happy birthday."
Meanwhile, one more said: "Such a random crossover."
Donovan is a familiar face to Premier League fans following two brief spells with Everton.
He spent two months with the Toffees on loan from LA Galaxy in both 2010 and 2012, scoring twice in 17 league appearances.

The four-time American footballer of the year also had spells in the USA, Germany and Mexico as a player.
Meanwhile, his 57 goals in 157 caps for his country make him the USA's joint-top scorer of all-time alongside Clint Dempsey.
Donovan also won four CONCACAF Gold Cups and played for the Stars and Stripes at three World Cups.
He retired from playing aged 37 in 2019 and went on to found his own team in the USA.
The San Diego Loyal were a USL Championship side before being dissolved in October last year.
During their existence, Donovan served as owner, sporting CEO and manager alongside his role with Lincoln.
