FANS were left in complete disbelief after Erling Haaland missed the “easiest tap in football history has ever seen” in the Manchester derby win.
Even England legend and Match of the Day host Gary Lineker said it was “the worst miss I’ve ever seen at this level”.
The incredible gaffe occurred just moments before half time as the Cityzens looked to draw level before going on to win 3-1 against the Red Devils.
A brilliant long-ranger from Marcus Rrashford had given Manchester United the lead away to City.
The Red Devils then had to survive some heavy pressure but they managed to hold firm until the 45th minute.
Phil Foden headed down for Haaland, who scored five against Luton in midweek, to simply slot home into an empty net from three yards.
However, the Norwegian star somehow put his shot over the bar as he lay there with his head in his hands after opting to go with his foot rather than head.
The whole of the Etihad seemed to be stunned - as were the millions watching the Premier League showdown across the globe.
And it did not take long for footy supporters to take to X to share their shock, with Lineker leading the charge.
He wrote: “That might be the worst miss I’ve ever seen at this level. @ErlingHaaland has to head it. Incredible.”
Talk TV’s Piers Morgan posted: “Most diabolical miss in world football history. Congrats @ErlingHaaland.”

Another post read: “Haaland with the worst miss of all time.”
Former Premier League striker and fellow Norweigian Jan Fjortoft wrote of his countryman: “Wow! That miss from Erling Haaland! He will be so annoyed by himself.
“He choose to use his great left foot. It maybe would have been even easier to use his head or even his chest.”
And another post read: "Oh my god. Haaland with the miss of the season."
Man Utd legend Roy Keane was working for Sky Sports as a pundit at the game.
But the usually fiery Irishman was even completely lost for words.
He said at half time: “I really can’t explain it.”
A fellow shocked fan said: “Nah Haaland…..THATS A JOKE.”
While another said: “Haaland when he ain't playing Luton. This man is a joke. How do you miss that?”
However, Phil Foden did draw City level shortly after the break before brilliantly putting them into the lead with ten minutes to go.
Then Haaland's big moment arrived in stoppage time, and this time he made no mistake after being played clean through to secure the 3-1 triumph.
