‘I’m gonna burst,’ cries darts star in unusual request seconds before final leg at UK Open – before being dumped out
SIMON WHITLOCK took a toilet break before the final leg and was then dumped out of the UK Open.
The Wizard of Oz was trailing fellow countryman Damon Heta 9-8 in the fourth round of the event in Minehead on Friday night.
But Whitlock, 54, took the unusual step of asking referee Huw Ware to pause the match for an unscheduled toilet break after explaining he desperately needed to go.
He could be heard saying: “I’m gonna burst. I’ve got to go.”
Ref Ware granted the Aussie permission and he returned a few minutes later.
In unprecedented scenes, Heta was left standing alone on the oche mid-leg.

The commentators promptly revealed the former world finalist had scurried off for an unscheduled toilet break.
They stated: “I was just talking about the respect between these two, so I don’t think there’s any skulduggery involved here.
"I think Simon Whitlock really does need to go to the loo!”
The crowd then hilariously greeted Whitlock when he arrived at the stage with “”.

Heta was clearly not put off by the distraction and the break as he soon flushed out his World Cup team-mate 10-8.
The Aussie will face Englishman Nathan Aspinall in the fifth round of the UK Open on Saturday afternoon.
The winner will then head into the last 16 of the tournament in Minehead.
