REAL MADRID’S incredible 40-match unbeaten run came to a dramatic end after Stevan Jovetic scored a 91st minute winner at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium to leave Sevilla a point behind at the top.

Cristiano Ronaldo had put Zinedine Zidane’s men ahead through a second half penalty but the home side equalised after Sergio Ramos scored a late own goal.

The first half was a quiet affair with both sides having few chances between them as the defences were keeeping on top in what was an intense opening period.

Ronaldo had his side’s best chances of the game, firstly latching onto a Toni Kroos pass before drilling a low shot at goal which was saved well by Sergio Rico low down.

Then Samir Nasri stung the hands of Keylor Navas as he smashed a shot from 25 yards away which was was well caught.

Then the deadlock should have been broken when Karim Benzema found Ronaldo in the box with a fizzing pass, but he could only manage to scuff his shot well wide of the post.

Ben Yedder almost opened the scoring in the 54th minute for the home side, after he peeled off defender Nacho before unleashing a strike into the far corner that Navas done brilliantly to parry away.

The match then turned into an end-to-end game, and Benzema somehow blazed high over the bar after the ball fell to him from 12 yards out after Luka Modric’s shot was blocked.

Then in the 64th minute Sevilla fans were left incensed after the referee awarded Los Blancos a penalty after Danilo was brought down by Rico after he skipped past Adil Rami.

Ronaldo then scored his 23rd career goal against Sevilla as he duly dispatched the spot-kick in expert fashion, slotting low into the bottom left-corner for his 12th La Liga goal of the season – and 18th in all competitions.

Ramos was unlucky to score an own goal after Sarabia whipped in an expert free-kick

Then in the 84th minute, Sergio Ramos, a once star now hated figure in Seville scored an own goal after Pablo Sarabia whipped in a glorious in-swinging free-kick.

Ramos has scored twice against tonight’s opponents this season, including a dramatic equaliser in the 2016 UEFA Super Cup, and midweek in the 3-3 draw in the Copa del Rey.

Then Jovetic etched himself in history as a Sevilla hero as he curled home a beautiful winner from outside the box in injury-time which Navas could only get a hand to.

The former Man City striker has now scored twice in four days as he scored on his debut against Madrid last time out.
