Pep: Foden is Premier League's best
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola reserved special praise for his two-goal hero Phil Foden following victory in the Manchester derby.
The Spanish coach highlighted not just Foden's goalscoring and attacking instincts, but the amount of defensive work he gets through, and his ability to influence the game all over the pitch.
It is the amount of games [Phil Foden] is playing. He was always a talented player, but now he is more mature and understands the game, especially defensively. He can play middle, right, make moments and cut inside, play on the left, score from the left. What can I say? He is the best player in the Premier League right now for the amount of things he does. Unbelievable.

Dave Kidd has filed his match report of Manchester City's 3-1 win over Manchester United, and - unsurprisingly - has reserved special praise for Phil Foden.
However cosmopolitan the Manchester derby becomes, local lad Phil Foden is making this fixture his own. Foden, who netted a hat-trick against Manchester United here last season, netted a second-half double to propel Pep Guardiola’s side to a comeback victory.

Ten Hag pleased with performance
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag believes his side performed well despite defeat in the derby.
Speaking to the BBC, the Dutchman praised the manner in which his side defended for long periods, and believe they could have added to their opening goal on more than one occasion.
I think it was a good performance overall. We went 1-0 up and we had our moments after it to score the second one. We defended very well and there were two defining moments when we nearly made a breakthrough but conceded the first goal. Then you are disappointed. We have to accept it and still we had the opportunities to get at least one point, but the win was also possible.
Erik ten HagCity finally find fightback formula
This afternoon's 3-1 victory was the first time that Manchester City have ever come from behind to beat Manchester United in a Premier League match, having fallen behind to their rivals on 29 occasions.
City had lost the previous 15 games in which they had trailed United, and looked set for another derby defeat until Phil Foden sparked the fightback.
City make their point
Liverpool found a way. Manchester City found a way. Tomorrow night it will be the turn of Arsenal as the title race heats up.
With their come-from-behind victory this afternoon, City have moved back to within a point of Jurgen Klopp's league leaders - and the pair meet next Sunday at Anfield.
Manchester United, meanwhile, are now 11 points off fourth-placed Aston Villa, and six behind Tottenham, having played a game more than Spurs.
With fifth spot likely to herald Champions League football, every point is precious for United; every defeat a disaster.
Match stats from the Etihad Stadium
The statistics are just about as one-sided as they come.
Manchester United attempted just three shots in the match. Only once on record from 2003-04 onwards have United had fewer in a single Premier League game (2 v Liverpool in April 2022).
Only one of those three shots came after the 15th minute.

This is how it feels to be City, sing the home fans as Andy Madley calls time on an absorbing Manchester derby.
One down at the break to a Marcus Rashford scorcher, the champions roared back in the second half as champions do.
An exquisite double from Phil Foden turned the game around, and it was capped by an Erling Haaland goal in stoppage time.
City move back to within a point of Liverpool, and guess who awaits Pep Guardiola's team next time out?

Manchester will be blue again tonight.
Man City 3-1 Man Utd
90+1. Erling Haaland has his goal, and Manchester City have their win!
Manchester United choose injury time as the point at which to play out from the back, and it goes horribly wrong.
Raphael Varane gives Sofyan Amrabat an awkward pass, and he in turn is quickly dispossessed by Rodri.
The Spaniard has the simple task of picking out an unmarked Haaland, who brings the ball under control before seamlessly steering it beyond Andre Onana and into the bottom corner.
Game over!
Man City 2-1 Man Utd
90. The board goes up to signal a whopping eight minutes.
It's hard to envisage where that added time has come from, other than Andre Onana's dubious cramp midway through the second half.
Man City 2-1 Man Utd
88. Antony tries to make headway along the right touchline, but he's tracked all the way by Foden, who outmuscles his opponent to win a throw.
The City fans on that side of the stadium celebrate as if they have scored again, and their two-goal hero responds in kind by urging them on.

Man City 2-1 Man Utd
80. Phil Foden at the double!
It's another fine Manchester City goal, this one that is well worked from the left.
The City forward exchanges a smart one-two with Julian Alvarez, bursts away from a tiring Casemiro, and fires across Andre Onana into the bottom corner.
The boy from Stockport, he's one of City's own, and he may well have just won them the Manchester derby!
Phil your boots!
Man City 1-1 Man Utd
77. This time United do play Garnarcho in on goal, and suddenly it means the youngster is in a footrace with Ederson.
The two players reach the loose ball at the same time, but when the United forward attempts to round the goalkeeper, City's stopper executes a perfect sliding challenge.
Garnacho goes rolling across the penalty area - and VAR do have a look - but it was perfect play from Ederson, who was electric in coming off his line.
Man City 1-1 Man Utd
75. Scrap that thought. Antony already shows himself to be wasteful, failing to feed Garnacho in on goal when the Argentine was in absolute acres of space.

73. Another change for Erik ten Hag's team.
Marcus Rashford has faded in this second half, and he's replaced for the final stages by Antony.
Perhaps this is the afternoon that the Brazilian makes his mark on the Premier League.

Thirty-six-year-old Jonny Evans has run his race, and he will be replaced by a defender 17 years his junior in Willy Kambwala.
The oncoming Frenchman will slot in at left-back with Victor Lindelof shifting into the centre of defence.
