The former England and Liverpool boss will look to carry on working in an off-field capacity.

And he would relish a crack in another country and has vast experience in Sweden and Italy.

Hodgson’s reputation is high in the coaching world and he could soon be fielding offers.

Insiders reveal Hodgson played a key part in picking the team for Monday’s 1-1 draw against Everton before his medical drama.

Goalkeeper Sam Johnstone came back into the side and Odsonne Edouard was named ahead of Matheus Franca.

Both switches had been lined up in preparation for the game before he left.
