DAN EVANS is through to uncharted territory - the Australian Open last 16.

The world No51 upset Bernard Tomic in straight sets for the biggest victory over his career in front of Tomic's home fans.

"The only limits will be the ones he makes himself. The game is there but it can’t be maximised if the rest is not ready. It’s up to him."

Formerly known for his somewhat rebellious attitude and 'party-boy' lifestyle, Evans has since channelled more of his focus into perfecting his craft.

According to former coach Mark Taylor, however, the 26-year-old has never been one to let fame get to him.

"He doesn’t take himself too seriously,’ Taylor said.

"He’s not caught up in the whole hype thing of the thing. He’s been able to keep it in perspective."
