ARSENAL will lift the Premier League title in May according to a supercomputer.

The artificial intelligence has Arsenal first, followed closely by Liverpool in second and last season's champions Manchester City slumping to third.

Aston Villa round out the top four, despite this weekend's loss to Champions League rivals Manchester United.

The data was crunched by algorithm named BETSiE, which simulates the Premier League season 100,0000 times.

The data also takes into account results from last season, pre-season results, the current season and xG throughout the year.

BETSiE was clearly impressed by Arsenal's 6-0 rout of West Ham on Sunday and tipped the Gunners to beat Liverpool to the title by a point and giving them a 39.3 per cent chance of their first crown since 2004.

Liverpool meanwhile are given a 35.8 per cent probability and Manchester City just 24.8 per cent.

Their closest other challengers, Aston Villa and Tottenham are the only other teams to record more than a zero per cent chance of probability and are both given 0.1 per cent.

Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou was asked about that 0.1 per cent chance ahead of the clash with Brighton and was defiant as ever when it came to talking about his side's prospects.

The Ausssie said: "What did it say, 0.1 per cent? So we got a chance then. Let’s go for it. No problems, no issues with that, we’ve got a chance!”

If BETSiE is correct, then Spurs will be hoping that fifth place is enough for Champions League this season - although that is largely dependent on how well Manchester City and rivals Arsenal do in Europe's elite competition.

Somewhat surprisingly, the AI has Newcastle claiming the last Europa League place and coming sixth, despite their inconsistencies this season.

That leaves Manchester United probably playing in the Europa Conference League having come seventh - a result that would surely see Erik ten Hag facing the sack.

The algorithm has Sheffield United coming rock bottom, despite their recent 3-1 win against Luton.

Vincent Kompany will be leading Burnley back down to the Championship according to the computer.

Luton will be the closest to surviving the drop but even then will be five points off their nearest rivals Nottingham Forest.
