The American uploaded a video of himself working out on an exercise bike, with motivating music playing in the background.
He captioned the post: “I’m coming for you Big Show.”
The Big Show, also 44, is confident he has what it takes to outpower his humongous opponent, who measures up one inch shorter than Shaq at 7ft exactly.
Speaking exclusively to SunSport, he said: “I haven’t been this lean since early in my WCW career.
“We’re going to start the program around January and pick it up full force.
“It’s a spectacle match. Shaq is a world renowned athlete and he’s also a big fan. I know him. He’s going to take it serious. He’s going to train and learn. I think a lot people are going to be surprised.”
Shaq quit an illustrious 19-year NBA career in 2011, in which he won three championships with the Lakers and one with Miami Heat.
Last year he made a shock cameo at the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at Wrestlemania 32 where he came face-to-face with the Big Show.
Shaq planted the seeds to an eagerly-awaited skirmish in 2009, when he appeared on Raw and antagonised the wrestler by shoving him.
