Luke Humphries has dart ‘disqualified’ after breaking rule to lose crucial final leg in blow to Luke Littler conqueror

Humphries' opponent Stephen Bunting condemned the crowd's boos after the match

WORLD CHAMPION Luke Humphries had a dart "disqualified" in the final leg of his 10-7 defeat to Stephen Bunting at The Masters.

The World No1, just 72 hours after a loss in the Premier League to Luke Littler, suffered yet another defeat in Milton Keynes on Saturday night.

"Cool Hand" was subjected again to whistles and booing from the crowd as he was going for doubles, replicating the scenes in Cardiff on Thursday.

And things got to him at the end of the match as he stepped over the oche line with his final dart.

After hitting 16 to set up a finish at tops, he missed the 20 completely, striking the five and leaving himself without a finish.

Humphries then threw his third dart while walking towards the oche, before the referee confirmed the world champion's final throw was invalid.

As the frustration boiled over for the Newbury-born star, Bunting stepped up to seal the victory.

Speaking after the match, Bunting said: "I tried to calm the crowd down at the end.

"No one wants to win a game like that."

Since Humphries' night of triumph against Littler at Ally Pally on January 3, he has now been KO’d early in the Bahrain and Dutch Masters, then the Premier League and now the Cazoo Masters.
