Since arriving in Europe things haven't gone to plan for the 20-year-old.

Injuries and lack of form have hindered his chances of making an impact at all his clubs.

Marquinhos arrived at Arsenal for £3million in the 2022 summer window, but failed to impress boss Mikel Arteta.

He played six times for the Gunners' first-team, registering a goal and an assist on his debut, which came in a Europa League win over FC Zurich.

The winger was loaned out to Championship side Norwich in the second half of last season, scoring one goal in 11 appearances.

Arsenal then set him out again to gain experience with FC Nantes, but he has featured just seven times in Ligue 1.

The French outfit ripped up his loan contract after six months, sending him back to North London.

And now he is set to leave again.

Brazilian sides Corinthians and Fluminense are both interested, with the latter currently frontrunners.

Brazil's transfer window does not close until March, which means there is no rush to finalise a deal.

Part of the reason he left Nantes was his desire to play for Brazil's U-23s at the pre-Olympic tournament in Venezuela.

Marquinhos is open to the prospect of returning to his homeland and Fluminense manager Fernando Diniz has been key in pitching the move to him.

Fellow youngster Bradley Ibrahim, 19, is also leaving as he closes in on a permanent move to German side Hertha Berlin.
