Rangers ace Jack Butland reveals England recall dream as Euro 2024 decision looms
JACK BUTLAND is dreaming of an England recall for Euro 2024.
The Rangers keeper has been in outstanding form and has not given up hope of being included in Gareth Southgate’s squad this summer.
Butland has nine caps, with the last of those coming in 2018.
He said: “You can only do what you can do.
“I’ve had my moments, seasons, before where I have been, in my opinion, the best in England.
“All I can do is what I’m doing.

“I haven’t been in that England squad for a while.
"If I said it was at the forefront of my mind, no.
"If it comes, absolutely I would love it.
“Ultimately, I have to do the job for Rangers and the fact is we are playing regularly at the minute, playing in some great competitions and we have got European football to come.

“So hopefully that is a good platform to continue to showcase that.”
Rangers haven’t had a player represent England since Paul Gascoigne.
However Butland doesn’t think playing in Scottish football should negatively impact his chances.
He said: “It has been done before for the England national team.
“But if you are not playing well then you are not in the conversation.
“I know they have a lot of players and a lot of goalkeepers to look at.
“Knowing the England camp, they don’t leave any stone unturned and if it is something they’re thinking about then they would have done that already.
“Whether they have been here in person or watched games, if that was a consideration then they don’t just make those decisions willy-nilly.
“It would be based on whether they think it was the right thing.
"That is why the England team has been successful and hopefully it continues and hopefully it is a big summer for the team.”
Sky pundit Chris Sutton, who was at Rangers’ game against St Mirren, was continually overlooked by England during his playing career at Celtic.
But Butland said: “You have seen England players in the past being selected from playing in European competition and in mainland Europe.
“It comes down to what you’re capable of doing and if you can perform and are performing at the right level.
“Perhaps, unfortunately for him, there was a hell of a selection of strikers to choose from at the same time.
