CHELSEA fans were left raging after owner Todd Boehly's Hilton Hotels stunt at Stamford Bridge.

The American businessman has faced huge criticism from the Blues faithful since taking over in the summer of 2022.

That is because Chelsea finished down in 12th place last season and are still in mid-table obscurity under Mauricio Pochettino.

And while Boehly has shelled out more than £1billion on transfers, his sanctioning of bizarre promotional opportunities continues to rile supporters.

The latest of these came over the weekend when Chelsea's global hospitality partner, Hilton Hotels, created a temporary hotel room on the balcony of the Matthew Harding Stand.

The gimmick, a part of Hilton's advertising campaign, consisted of a bed, a wall-mounted television and several branded dressing gowns on show for an empty Stamford Bridge.

And Chelsea Women shared a video of the room ahead of their clash with Manchester United Women - a match they won 3-1 thanks to a Lauren James hat-trick.

But Blues fans were thoroughly unimpressed by the move.

One said: "Matthew Harding funded that stand and it is a special end for true, old school Chelsea fans.

";To replace seats for advertising is absolutely shameful. Added to the ‘Boehly just doesn’t get it’ list."

The idea was also labelled "cringeworthy and embarrassing".

It comes after Boehly was slammed earlier this month for another Stamford Bridge stunt.

Chelsea were fans were baffled when a group of men promoting the Hollywood film Argylle stood up and began brushing their teeth during the Blues' 1-0 win over Fulham.
