Viewers say ‘licence fee is worth every penny’ as Arsenal icon David Seaman hijacks Saturday night TV in BBC blunder

FOOTBALL fans couldn't believe their eyes when David Seaman dominated BBC1’s Saturday night TV schedule.

In a bizarre scheduling blunder, Arsenal legend Seaman tested his general knowledge in back-to-back teatime quiz shows.

And baffled viewers loved it, declaring “the licence fee is worth every penny”.

The former Gunners and England goalie, 60, was first spotted on BBC1 as a contestant on popular show The Weakest Link.

Seaman took to the screen alongside wife Frankie, 50.

The loved-up couple met after they were paired together on Dancing On Ice.

And Seaman provided plenty of chuckles as he ran the gauntlet with host, and Gooner, Romesh Ranganathan.

However, the former stopper’s work for the evening was not done there.

After The Weakest Link, unsuspecting viewers were again greeted by Seaman's grinning face in the very next programme.

Supporters were gobsmacked as a special episode of Pointless began, with Seaman and Frankie again one of the pairings for the quiz show, hosted by Alexander Armstrong and Richard Osman.

But the couple provided plenty of laughs yet again.

And fans couldn’t help taking to social media to praise Seaman’s antics.

One wrote: “Two consecutive programmes containing frequent David Seaman chuckles.

“The licence fee is worth every penny.”

A second added: "Is it David Seaman night on BBC1 tonight ?!"

While one commented: "David Seaman & Frankie slipped seamlessly into Pointless now from The Weakest Link!"

Another queried: “Is that just a weird scheduling coincidence?”

Indeed, Seaman’s appearances on both BBC1 shows turned out to be a success for the man himself.

The ace was all smiles as he finished fourth in The Weakest Link.

Seaman then followed it up by winning Pointless — but he painfully failed to get the final ‘Pointless’ answer to land the grand cash prize.

However, Seaman is unlikely to hold either achievement alongside his success in football.

The ace won three league titles during a 13-year spell at Arsenal, where he played 564 times.

He also won four FA Cups at Highbury, and was capped 75 times by England between 1988 and 2002.
