UFC gives special permission for rivalling stars to rematch in BOXING with bout eyed for March in Las Vegas

These two stars originally collided for the BMF title back in November 2019

TWO UFC icons are reportedly set to renew their fierce rivalry - only this time it will be in the boxing ring.

Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz famously went toe-to-toe in November 2019 to battle it out for the inaugural BMF title.

The Gamebred Fighter won it by defeating Diaz at UFC 244.

There have been numerous rumours since that the two men would collide again, but a fight has never come to fruition.

And then the showdown looked to be completely off the cards when Masvidal called time on his MMA career in April after four straight losses.

Diaz, meanwhile, has had two fights since then inside the octagon, losing to Leon Edwards but then stopping Tony Ferguson.

The Stockton Slugger, 38, then pulled on the boxing gloves in August when he suffered a decision loss to Jake Paul.

He is no longer under contract with Dana White’s UFC.

However, 39-year-old Masvidal is and recently announced a shock retirement U-turn.

That led to talk that he was set to be part of the upcoming UFC 300 mega card being planned, only now it seems he has other plans.

According to influencer boxing outfit , Masvidal has been booked to face Diaz for a second time.

But the rematch between the two rivals will be in a Las Vegas boxing bout on a yet-to-be-announced date in March.

They claim that UFC chiefs have granted Masvidal special permission to compete in the showdown.

And that follows on from ‘Problem Child’ Paul appearing to confirm the news a week ago.

When Masvidal announced a return to fighting last Monday on social media, the YouTuber-turned-boxer replied to that tweet with: “Yeah yeah, going to box Nate Diaz.

“Come see when Dana gives you permission.”
