Bournemouth 3 Arsenal 3: Fans blast Olivier Giroud’s scorpion celebration for wasting time

OLIVIER GIROUD has risked the ire of angry Arsenal fans despite almost single-handedly rescuing a point against Bournemouth.

With the Gunners 3-0 down with 20 minutes to play, the Frenchman set up Alexis Sanchez and Lucas Perez before heading his side level in injury time.

And furious Gooners vented their anger at the striker's antics as they felt the title challengers should have pushed for a winner against the 10-man Cherries.

Some accused Arsene Wenger's side of celebrating a draw when a win was needed to keep pace with runaway leaders Chelsea.

And others suggested Giroud was acting selfishly despite playing a part in all three goals.

After the match, he cut a much more frustrated figure as he was presented the man of the match award by Aaron Ramsey.

He said: “I’m pleased to help the team by scoring the equaliser but I’m still disappointed.

"It’s nice to come back but the way we played at the end, that made me think we should have done better.

"At least we came back, showed great mental strength and I will take it.”

Bournemouth took a commanding lead through Charlie Daniels, Callum Wilson and Ryan Fraser.

But Sanchez and Perez scored a quickfire double to put pressure on the hosts before skipper Simon Francis lost his cool and was sent off.

Giroud then managed to leap above the Cherries' defence to steer a header into the bottom corner with five minutes of injury time left to play.
