PUNTERS were left gasping 'this is truly unreal' after seeing what horse Crimson Light did on his unforgettable debut.

In sloppy conditions at a sodden Aqueduct track in New York, this three-year-old colt put himself down as a possible star of the future after snatching victory from the jaws of defeat.

Bucking, kicking and seemingly having no desire to race, jockey Kendrick Lamouche did well just to remain in the saddle on the newcomer.

Crimson Light, who is trained by Todd Pletcher, looked a complete no-hoper and gave rivals a 20-length head-start as he clattered into the rail.

Those operating the cameras thought the same too, not bothering to zoom out enough to include the horse in the coverage.

In fairness, the way American races usually pan out is that the hard-going front runner jumps out, makes all and prays they have enough in the tank to get home in front.

But Crimson Light turned that theory completely on its head with his most amazing of finishes.

The horse was still dead last rounding the home bend.

But from somewhere he found the most amazing turn of foot.

Crimson Light picked off rivals one by one and nabbed the race in the dying strides to complete the most incredible of comebacks.

Victory was worth a little over £30,000 to connections.

But what's really exciting is how good the horse could be in future - and how much more enjoyment he could bring to fans.

After witnessing his debut, one punter said: "Holy Byjasus! Unbelievable run!"

Another wrote online: "Wow in my 50 years of watching horse racing that was the most amazing win I've ever seen."

One comment said 'this is truly unreal', another read 'absolutely insane' while a third person posted: "The more I watch this, the more impressed I am."

There was an equally incredible ride at Plumpton in England on Sunday.

Jockey Joe Anderson ended up wrapped round his horse's neck but somehow clung onto record victory.
