A wasp wreaked havoc at Ally Pally last month with several players bothered by the bug.

Teenage sensation Luke Littler appeared to be stung by it during his quarter-final win against Brendan Dolan.

Ross Smith also claimed it bit him three times after one of his matches and Dirk van Duijvenbode was left frantically trying to dodge the wasp while at the oche.

And the flying pest is still causing problems as the snooker got underway yesterday.

During the first frame in the match between Lisowski and world champion Luca Brecel, the wasp swirled around to the annoyance of the players.

The Englishman potted a pink into the middle pocket and was then distracted by it as he missed his next shot.

A fuming Lisowski then tried to whack the wasp by swinging his cue wildly in the air to the shock of the crowd.

It seemed to scare off the Ally Pally menace and inspire him to a 6-2 victory against Brecel.

Lisowski revealed after the game that going after the wasp was a key moment in the match.

He said: "When I smashed that wasp with my cue I thought I'm on it today.

"My hand-eye coordination felt good, I felt focused, I think the game turned on that wasp."
