Mejbri, 20, joined the Old Trafford side's youth team after switching from Monaco in 2019.

However, he has struggled to break through into the senior team since his arrival.

The Tunisian international has only featured eight times in the Premier League, scoring one goal.

Fabrizio Romano has now reported that his move to Sevilla has been hijacked by the Toffees.

The reporter has insisted that Sean Dyche's side are making contact over a move to Goodison Park.

It is reported that he also had interest from Ligue 1 side Lyon and Bundesliga outfit Freiburg.

Mejbri has rejected those moves in favour of a switch to LaLiga but now has the choice of Everton.

The reporter has also insisted that the United and Sevilla still need to discuss terms.

It is also suggested that Sevilla could include an option to make the loan permanent and United could insist on a buyback clause.

Mejbri was one of three players to have their deals extended at United.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Victor Lindelof have also had one-year extensions triggered.

The club is also in discussions with Raphael Varane and Anthony Martial.

Erik ten Hag said: "We have triggered the options on Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Victor Lindelof and Hannibal.

"We are talking with Rapha Varane and with Anthony Martial."
