Kasper Schmeichel ‘thrown Premier League lifeline’ with Leicester title winner ‘open’ to stunning transfer return
KASPER SCHMEICHEL could return to the Premier League with Sheffield United, according to reports.
The former Premier League champion left England in 2022 when he joined Nice from Leicester.
But his spell in France did not go according to plan, though he did make 46 appearances for the Ligue 1 side before being released in September.
Schmeichel, 37, joined Anderlecht on a one-year deal and Sheffield United are considering a move this month, report .
The Dane has made 13 appearances for Anderlecht but kept just two clean sheets.
And he could be tempted by a return to the Premier League despite the Blades' struggles.

Sheffield United are reported to be interested in Villarreal striker Ben Brereton-Diaz.
The Chile international attracted a lot of interest while at Blackburn but has failed to replicate his goalscoring form in Spain.
He could be available on loan after failing to score a single goal for Villarreal, with the Blades also in need of more firepower up-front.

Meanwhile, United could send defender Luke Thomas back to Leicester by ending his season-long loan early.
The Thomas decision may depend on the fitness of left-back Max Lowe, who picked up a groin injury in training last week.
Blades chiefs know if Thomas, 22, returns to the Foxes, it frees up space for an extra loan signing.
