I was an electrician before darts stardom – now I eat roast dinner for breakfast & I’m eyeing World Championships glory

Ace admits he's a 'weird eater'... but his wife is 'even worse!'

ROB CROSS will kick-start his New Year’s Day plans with a full ROAST DINNER in the morning.

Voltage, 33, might be a world darts champion – he famously thumped Phil Taylor in the 2018 final on his debut.

But Sky Sports refuse to give him a late-night headline billing.

All three of his WDC games so far have been scheduled in the afternoon session.

And the opening quarter-final on Monday, from 12.30pm, will be Cross versus Chris Dobey.

It means that he is having to eat a substantial meal not long after breakfast time to ensure his belly is full for the moment he takes to the stage.

Asked about the lack of prime-time evening-time play, the former electrician said: “I don’t think it’s disrespectful.

“Look, I’m fighting with Luke Littler at the minute, who is trending No.1 on Twitter, 16 years old. I don’t want to fight with him, I think he’s brilliant.

“It has served me well not being in the evening so far. We’re all on the same money. So I can go back and enjoy my evenings.

“I’m really not fussed with it. I want to come here and win however. Put me on at 4am if you want. I don’t care.

“With these early starts, I’m on a roast dinner at about 10.30am at the minute back at the apartment. Just to bulk myself up – not that I need it!

“Try to eat a proper dinner before playing. I wouldn’t last the day otherwise. This way, I’d get no fatigue. I don’t feel weak.

“Sometimes I struggle with breakfast, I don’t hold it down. I’m a weird eater anyway. My missus is even worse!”
