Manchester United transfer news: Morgan Schneiderlin’s move to Everton looks doomed with Inter Milan poised to swoop
United have already rejected West Brom's £13million bid for Schneiderlin and would prefer to sell abroad
EVERTON'S pursuit of Morgan Schneiderlin looks doomed with Manchester United preferring to offload the unwanted Frenchman abroad.
SunSport has been told United see Everton as rivals despite being nine points ahead of the Toffees in the table and could sell the midfielder to Inter Milan instead.
West Brom, another point behind the Merseysiders, have shown an interest and are not seen as competitors with the Reds, making them a more viable option if they are to do business with a Premier League side.
Baggies boss Tony Pulis has made it clear he wants the Frenchman at the Hawthorns, but a £13million bid has already been rejected by United who are looking to recoup the £24m paid to Southampton in 2015.
Schneiderlin was signed by former United boss Louis Van Gaal and enjoyed a solid first season at Old Trafford making 39 appearances under the Dutchman.
But the arrival of Jose Mourinho has signalled the end of his time in Manchester. The former Southampton man has appeared for less than 15 minutes in the Premier League this term and only featured in eight games this season.
Schneiderlin would prefer to link up with his old Saints boss Ronald Koeman at Goodison Park to kick start his career after falling down the pecking order behind Paul Pogba, Ander Herrera, Michael Carrick and Marouane Fellaini.
A reunion with Koeman looks difficult for Schneiderlin, so it could be a battle of wills between United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward and the player's agent until deadline day on January 31.
Inter Milan are keen to take the French international to the San Siro, which would be the ideal scenario for Jose Mourinho.
Inter boss Stefano Pioli are also keen on Atalanta midfielder Roberto Gagliardini, who has impressed this season in Serie A.
