Scott Williams risks darts probe after win over German Martin Schindler overshadowed by reference to vile football chant
SCOTT WILLIAMS' win over Martin Schindler at Alexandra Palace has been overshadowed by his reference to a vile football chant.
The darts star twice came from behind against his German opponent to win 4-3 on Wednesday.

Annually German fans make up a significant proportion of the Ally Pally crowd and the sport is huge over there.
In his post-match on-stage interview, Williams mentioned the support base in North London and then jokily brought up the infamous words of a derogatory song that is connected with England football hooligans.
Williams said: "I’ve never had the crowd on my side like that. I know we won two world wars and one world cup. The German fans in here were huge.
"All I could hear was these guys. What a game. I’m so happy to get to the other side as a winner.

"I wasn’t expecting it to go all the way to sudden death. I’m absolutely knackered.
"Hats off to Martin and hats off to the German guys that are here supporting. The guys here supporting me ‘super super Scott Williams’. I’ve never heard that before, I’ll take it though for the next one.
"I behaved myself. I just did things I was supposed to do. I didn’t do anything silly. I did the right things at the right times, which you are meant to do on the stage.
"It’s so difficult on this stage, it’s warm on here. There are a few thousand shouting your name. You are getting booed by German guys, Dutch guys, Swiss guys. You’ve got to put that aside. I’m into the last 16 baby!"

Sky Sports apologised for the language used live on TV by the Boston-born thrower.
Williams himself then tweeted: "In regards to what I said on stage earlier, it was a bit stupid!
"Love the people, the food and the venues!
"What was said was in the heat of the moment after a WICKED GAME vs Martin!
"Nothing was meant to harm anyone’s feelings and I apologise profusely! Much love."
He also wrote: "Thanks for the messages everyone!
"A few nasty ones from some German fans, but I understand why! Absolutely nothing personal, just a bit of jeering and jesting with the crowd! I’m British and Proud!!!! Last 16 Baby!!!!""
SunSport understands the Darts Regulation Authority may decide to review the incident to see if he has brought the game into disrepute.
Meanwhile, Fans were quick to criticise his behaviour on social media.
One commented: "‘Oh, he was just excited at winning, and wasn't thinking’ will be the excuses from his supporters. But why would that even be in your head to come out with in the 1st place? Pathetic."
Another added: "They have won 4 world cups though."

Following that interview, the crowd had a bit of fun by singing “2-0 to the England…” as St Helens’ Dave Chisnall battered German giant Gabriel Clemens 4-1.

Shaggy's win over 26th seed Schindler means he will face either Damon Heta or Berry van Peer in the last 16 later this week.
The 33-year-old has also extended his best ever run at the PDC World Darts Championship after bettering his debut last year, where he reached round two.
