Harry Redknapp makes shock return to management with struggling side at age of 76 as he vows to reunite with Kranjcar

The team's standout star is just three years younger than Redknapp

HARRY REDKNAPP has made a shock return to management to help Specsavers' Best Worst Team Cwm Albion.

The 76-year-old has come out of retirement and wants to get his former star Croatian legend Niko Kranjcar to join him in South Wales.

It has been six years since Redknapp was last in the dugout, when he was in charge of Birmingham City.

But he has been drawn back to help the UK's worst football team.

His managerial expertise will be much needed to help Welsh side Cwm Albion.

With a -191 goal difference, the team lost all of their 22 games in the Swansea Senior League last season.

And the shocking performance earned them the title of Specsavers' Best Worst Team.

But Redknapp, who led Tottenham to the Champions League and helped Portsmouth to an FA Cup win in 2008, is ready to turn things around.

He mentioned he will need to be reunited with Kranjcar for a fourth time to help out his standout and oldest player John Rees, 73.

Redknapp told the : "It shows you really, the standard of the team is not that great.

"I’m hoping if I can find Niko Kranjcar, we’ll dig him out, and bring him down. Get a couple of ringers in there."

The Croatian star played under Redknapp throughout his career, first at Portsmouth, then at Spurs and for a third time on loan at QPR.

Realising this is one of his biggest challenges yet, Redknapp continued: "It's right up there. When you look at their record, it's not going to be easy.

"But I've been down, took a training session and really enjoyed it. They're good lads."

And he may have already begun to switch things up as Cwm secured their first victory in three years - a 4-3 win against Tennant Colts.
