Kobbie Mainoo set for bumper pay rise after week to remember but Man Utd determined to keep new golden boy grounded
GOLDEN boy Kobbie Mainoo’s week to remember has taken him two steps closer to doubling his dough at Manchester United.
Mainoo has long been touted as the next Old Trafford sensation and United were quick to nail him down with a new deal in February.
His current deal expires in 2027 and there is a year extension option.
That contract included a series of incremental pay hikes… one of which will see his salary rocket to £20,000 when his first-team appearances hit double figures.
And that is likely to happen before the end of the month, given the impression he has made since being handed a shock chance.
A week ago Mainoo, 18, was a surprise selection for United’s trip to Everton in front of a sold-out Goodison packed with fired-up fans at the Toffees’ ten-point deduction.

Yet the Stockport-born midfielder had a starring role in the 3-0 win, and followed up with another impressive display off the bench in the midweek 3-3 draw against Galatasaray in Istanbul.
That took his senior appearances to five… halfway to triggering that double-your-money increase.
And he also started in the 1-0 loss to Newcastle.
Mainoo will also boost that more with substantial bonuses every time he is in the matchday squad, with appearance and win clauses on top.

His wages will rocket further once he is an established first-teamer, but the club are determined to keep their academy stars grounded after having their fingers burned in the past.
They have previously handed huge deals to emerging talents like Adnan Januzaj, who was on £50,000 after he broke through, and are reluctant to pay big bucks too early again.
