Danny Willett: Masters champion necks a pint at the World Dart Championships as Lee Westwood reveals annoyance
Brit has enjoyed stellar year and let off some steam alongside wife Nicole as he watched MIchael van Gerwen match at Ally Pally
HE might hold the coveted green jacket after winning this year’s Masters.
But Danny Willett showed he’s really just one of the lads after downing a pint at the darts.
Britain’s latest golf sensation was egged on by the crowd as he polished off a beer during Michael van Gerwen and Cristo Reyes’ World Darts Championship match on Tuesday night.
Endearing himself further to the public, Willett raised his empty glass above his head to raucous cheers as he enjoyed a night out with wife Nicole.
But one man who was not happy with Willet’s actions was fellow golfer Lee Westwood.
The 43-year-old revealed in a series of tweets that he’d been stood up by the darts-loving pair, who apparently swapped going to the theatre in favour of the Ally Pally.
Responding to a picture of Nicole holding a sign reading ‘We love the Westy’s we do!’, Westwood wrote: “Love you too. Theatre dodgers! 2 empty seats at the phantom!”
But it seems Nicole had been hoping to join Westwood instead, replying: “Our romantic evening is not how I planned it #180.”
Westwood then wrote: “Arras and a pint. What more could a girl want!?”
