The win took his prize money total to over £14million

Equinox announced himself on the world stage by pulverising subsequent Arc second Westover in the Dubai Sheema Classic back in March.

He picked up the Takarazuka Kinen at Hanshin on his next start, before winning the Tenno Sho at Tokyo effortlessly.

Like his two prior starts, he went off at 30/100 to land another Grade 1 contest.

As is his want, Panthalassa set a searing pace and as they reached the three-furlong pole, he was still 25 lengths clear.

Christophe Lemaire never panicked on Equinox and quickly eroded the gap while still swinging away on the bridle.

The pair took over at the furlong pole and Lemaire barely nudged out his partner to scoop the prize.

That took Equinox's prize total to a staggering £14m and he will now have a little holiday while connections ponder whether to retire him.

Punters were left flabbergasted by the victory, with one saying: "Equinox is going to be that horse that we’ll be telling our grandkids about isn’t he."

Another said: "Equinox is a sight to behold. Just frightening."
