MIDDLESBROUGH want £12 million for out-of-favour striker Jordan Rhodes as Aston Villa try to do a deal.
The goalscorer is valued at the same price Boro paid for him when they signed him from Blackburn Rovers at the start of the year.
And despite being hardly seen in the Premier League the Teessiders expect to get their money back in the market with ambitious Villa clear leaders in the chase.
Villans boss Steve Bruce will let Rudy Gestede go, possibly part of a swap although Boro do not rate him at the £7 million price tag on his head.
Bruce would exchange Gestede or just raise money by letting him move on to create a vacancy for Rhodes.
