Mo Salah protected by army as punches thrown between security and pitch invaders in shocking scenes during Egypt clash

Liverpool star appeared shaken as he was marched off by soldiers during a 2-0 win over Sierra Leone

MO SALAH needed army protection from pitch invaders during Egypt’s win against Sierra Leone.

Shocking scenes last night saw security staff throw punches at one fan who approached Liverpool’s winger, before tackling another who was wearing a Manchester City shirt.

And Salah’s team-mate Mohamed Abdelmonem chased away a yob, who got within inches of the Reds star after sprinting at him from the stands in the 89th minute of Egypt’s 2-0 victory in Liberia.

Egyptian staff rushed on to the field and formed a protective ring around the 31-year-old as the first invader was hauled away and the third fled back towards the crowd.

Soldiers surrounded a shaken Salah and marched him off as chaotic scenes saw fans trying to swarm the star and a policeman bafflingly filming the ordeal.

The first invader appeared to be wearing a Liverpool shirt and crouched at Salah’s feet in a non-confrontational manner.

While the City-shirted youngster struggled to hold his trousers up as he was dragged away.

But the man chased off by Abdelmonem approached in a far more aggressive manner leaving Salah looking concerned.

Ex-Aston Villa ace Trezeguet scored both of Egypt’s goals as they made it two wins from two to cement top spot in Africa’s World Cup qualifying Group A.

Salah assisted the second and was involved in the build-up to the opener.
