in 2019, when asked if his old man would be coming to watch him play for the Lightning anytime soon: "Obviously he's interested because I play now, but I grew up playing football.
"I was going between both and I you could say I kinda came to a point in my life where I had to choose because I couldn't keep doing both and I guess I just chose hockey and it's worked out so far.
"When he's not touring he tries to keep up with my career.
"He emails me here and there but he's a pretty busy guy so if he can come down and watch me he will but he does keep in contact a lot."
Ice hockey has taken Liam on quite the world tour too, including New Zealand, joining Skycity Stampede.
That's where a friend approached him about coming back to play in the Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL) in the UK.
In addition to playing for the Lightning, Liam has turned out for the Spokane Chiefs and the Alaska Aces in the US and the Guildford Flames and Coventry Blaze in England.
Liam like his dad is a Celtic supporter but only made it to his first live game in December 2021 for the Europa League fixture against Real Betis. The Hoops won 3-2 on the night.
He said: "Finally a game fell on a day that I could make it. What a time it was."
Liam is also a keen Scotland supporter despite having spent much of his life outside of the country, attending the famous 3-2 win over Israel in November 2021.
For now he's currently enjoying life as a dad, with he and partner Nicole taking in trips to Marbella and Croatia with their son.
