HARRY MAGUIRE trolled himself on social media after Manchester United fans chanted his name against Copenhagen.

The centre-back scored the winner in the Champions League clash with Andre Onana saving an injury-time penalty.

It is a big boost for Maguire who has endured months of torment from fans, while he has also been dropped from Erik ten Hag's favoured starting line-up.

He was delighted with his contribution after the match and took to social media to poke fun at himself after his familiar chant echoed around Old Trafford once again.

Maguire shared a photo of his goal on alongside the caption: "His head's f***ing massive...1,2,3,4..."

The England star was stripped of the captaincy in the summer after losing his place in the team following a string of mistakes.

But he has now started in each of United's last four wins in all competitions, and was named man-of-the-match for his performance against Sheffield United at the weekend.

Fans showed their admiration for Maguire against Copenhagen and the defender was thrilled by the reception he received.

He said: "It is amazing. When you are not on your game it gets picked up, but I am really proud and pleased how I have acted over this six to 12 months.

"I have been given an opportunity and I want to help the team and get the club back to where it should be."

Maguire was linked with a transfer exit in the summer but his proposed move to West Ham fell through.

He has now played his way back into the team, helped by the injury to Lisandro Martinez, and Ten Hag praised his performance in the vital win over Copenhagen.
