Casemiro hobbled off 79 minutes in to their 1-1 draw with Venezuela.

Brazil manager Fernando Diniz revealed the news, saying: "He asked to come off due to a blow to his ankle."

It is unclear whether he will be fit to play against Uruguay on Tuesday or in Man Utd's next match against Sheffield United next Saturday.

Casemiro is the latest Red Devils star to sustain a problem this season with the likes of Luke Shaw, Lisandro Martinez and Aaron Wan-Bissaka all expected to be unavailable for long time.

Man Utd are launching an investigation into the persistent fitness issues.

Director of Football John Murtough said: "There are some strong mitigations for the mixed results so far, including 16 first-team players being injured or unavailable for periods since the start of the season.
