Manchester United transfer news: Old Trafford legend Gary Neville believes Jose Mourinho will be a busy man in the upcoming transfer windows

The Portuguese manager has already spent well over £140million since being appointed - and it's set to get a lot higher

MANCHESTER UNITED will do "big business" in the January transfer window, according to ex-Red Devil Gary Neville.

Mourinho, who was only appointed in the summer, has already attempted to put his stamp on the squad at Old Trafford.

He spent a world-record fee of £89million on Paul Pogba from Juventus, as well as around £30million on Eric Bailly and £26million on Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

In addition, Zlatan Ibrahimovic was enticed with wages of around £260,000-a-week.

But the work is only just beginning for the Portuguese boss, according to United legend Neville.

Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: "I think Jose Mourinho will want to do big business in the next couple of transfer windows.

"I think to shift the mentality of the whole squad he’ll still need to do some more."

SunSport reported yesterday (Sunday) how United have made a £38million bid for Benfica defender Victor Lindelof.

Mourinho has offered £34m for Lindelof, with the rest of the fee based on success-related bonuses.

They have also thrown their hat in the ring for Real Madrid's out of favour midfielder/attacker James Rodriguez.

The midfielder has fallen out of favour under manager Zinedine Zidane, and didn’t feature at all in Los Blancos’ triumphant Club World Cup final.

Spanish newspaper AS has reported that Chelsea, Manchester United, Juventus, Inter Milan and Paris Saint-Germain are all interested the Colombian.
