Aidan O’Brien’s superstar labelled ‘most exciting Dewhurst horse since Frankel’ set for big return
A POTENTIAL Aidan O'Brien-trained star labelled 'the most exciting Dewhurst horse since Frankel' is set for his big return on Saturday.
City Of Troy is perhaps the most exciting two-year-old in training and could cement his reputation in the Newmarket Group 1 on Saturday.
A son of US Triple Crown winner Justify, City Of Troy bolted up on debut at the Curragh in July.
He left a lasting impression and as a result, he was sent off at just 4-6 for his next start in the Superlative Stakes at Newmarket.
Cruising through the race under Ryan Moore, City Of Troy led at the two-furlong pole and sauntered away to score by over six lengths.
The second came out and franked the form at Glorious Goodwood, winning a Group 2 there in comfortable fashion.
Could this horse be the best we've seen since Frankel? One respected racing commentator suggested he was "the most exciting Dewhurst horse since Frankel".
Punters were left starstruck after his Superlative performance and he looks set to be a Classic colt next year.
He'll need to pass his test in Saturday's Dewhurst with flying colours if he's to do so, but it's a race O'Brien has farmed with his best horses.
He's one win away from equalling the leading trainer record of eight, winning it most recently with St Mark's Basilica in 2020.
City Of Troy is a general 8-15 to give O'Brien another victory in the Dewhurst, but if you think he'll win a Classic next year, you'll want to hurry.
He's 5-2 for next year's 2,000 Guineas and 4-1 for the Derby, and those odds will crash if he bolts up on the weekend.
