Liverpool vs Arsenal betting tips

Anfield was the scene of last week's underwhelming heavyweight contest between Liverpool and Manchester United.

It didn't live up to top billing, but I'm more optimistic that this top-of-the-table showdown will be far more entertaining.

That's a low bar, admittedly, but neither of these sides would dream of putting 10 men behind the ball to grind out a point.

No, these sides will go for the jugular with the Premier League title race well and truly alive after a mini slump from perennial champions Manchester City.

Liverpool might have blanked against United to halt their 26-match scoring run in the Premier League, but they made up for it with a 5-1 thrashing of West Ham in the Carabao Cup.

Arsenal, meanwhile, put together one of their most dominant performances of the season over Brighton last weekend to win 2-0 at the Emirates.

The Gunners have been excellent at the back this campaign with the joint-lowest goals conceded along with Saturday's opponents Liverpool.

A draw looks the most likely outcome, especially with so much at stake and neither defensively well-organised side wanting to concede three points to a direct rival.

This is the seventh time Liverpool and Arsenal have clashed in their final Premier League game before Christmas, and the last three have ended level.

There's going to be a huge battle in the middle of the park for superiority, and that's likely to see Dominik Szoboszlai in the thick of things. The 23-year-old has conceded 19 fouls in 17 appearances this season, and will have his hands full against opponents so fast in the transition.

  • Our tip: A draw at 13/5 with Paddy Power -
  • Our tip: Dominik Szoboszlai to be booked at 7/2 with Paddy Power -

The ACCA

In-form Fulham should enjoy a profitable afternoon against struggling Burnley at Craven Cottage on Saturday.

Marco Silva's side bounced back from that somewhat controversial 3-0 defeat to Newcastle by squeezing past Everton in the Carabao Cup. The Toffees hadn't lost in four but Fulham were able to travel and do the business.

That will put them in good stead against a woeful Burnley, who've lost nine of their last 11 and have taken five points from a possible 24 on the road.

It's perhaps a little risky but Birmingham could deliver a huge boost for under pressure manager Wayne Rooney on Saturday.

Birmingham have lost three of their last five, but did put in a good shift to narrowly lose 3-2 to runaway leaders Leicester.

They beat Cardiff on the road before that, and could capitalise on Plymouth losing highly-rated manager Steven Schumacher to Stoke earlier this week.

Plymouth assistant manager Mark Hughes, first-team coach Peter Cavanagh and goalkeeping coach Darren Behcet have also left the club.

Mansfield look tough to oppose this weekend, especially against a Sutton side who were beaten 8-0 to Stockport last time out.

The visitors ended a three-match winless run by beating Crawley 3-1 away last weekend, and boast the second best away record in League Two this season.

  • Our tip: Fulham, Birmingham and Mansfield at 7/1 with Paddy Power -

The Banker

Jarrod Bowen continues to be the main man at the London Stadium.

He's struck 12 goals and provided four assists in 22 appearances in all competitions - one behind his tally of 13 goals for the entirety of the 2022-23 campaign.

He's had double the number of efforts on goal than any of his West Ham colleagues with 44 and 22 of those were on target - averaging a shot every 33.5 minutes and a shot accuracy above 50%.

He's expected to add to that tally against Manchester United and their makeshift defence. Only lowly Luton Town have conceded more shots over the last four matches.

  • Our tip: Jarrod Bowen 2+ shots on target at 15/8 with Paddy Power -

The Longshot

All aboard the Fulham bandwagon!

Fulham have been outstanding recently, firing five past Nottingham Forest and West Ham in their last two home matches, and 3+ against Wolves and Sheffield United before that.

They enter the game high on confidence after their win over Everton, while Vincent Kompany's Burnley have struggled against sides they would have fancied to get points off.

The bookies have Fulham at a whopping 20/1 to score over 4.5 goals on Saturday, and we think they can produce yet another five star performance.

  • Our tip: Fulham to score over 4.5 goals at 20/1 with Paddy Power -
