ONE AND DONE

Forgotten Arsenal Invincible made only appearance in League Cup before becoming Wembley hero and quitting football at 29

FRANK SIMEK was an Arsenal player during their famous Invincible season - but made just one appearance for the club.

That came in a Carabao Cup Round of 16 clash against Wolves - which the Gunners won 5-1.

But unfortunately for Simek he was never given another chance to impress by iconic boss Arsene Wenger.

He was released at the end of the following season after loan spells at QPR and Bournemouth.

Simek dropped down a division by signing for Sheffield Wednesday where he made 130 appearances across four seasons.

His form for the Owls earned him a USA call-up and the right-back won five caps for his country between March and June 2007.

A serious ankle injury prevented Simek from winning more caps, with fitness issues becoming a recurring problem in his career.

Simek could not prevent the Owls from suffering relegation at the end of his final season at the club.

He was released following the drop so he joined fellow League One side Carlisle United on a two-year deal.

The defender was part of the side that won the Papa Johns Trophy at Wembley in 2011 - a year after they lost the final.

Simek, now 38, made 123 appearances for Carlisle before being forced into an early retirement.

Issues with his hip and ankle meant Simek was left with no other choice but to hang up his boots in 2013, aged just 29.

Simek has reportedly moved back to America since retiring with reports claiming he lives in Illinois.
