Liverpool fail in Curtis Jones red card appeal with midfielder now banned for THREE matches
LIVERPOOL'S appeal against Curtis Jones' red card against Tottenham has been unsuccessful.
The midfielder was sent off in the 26th minute for a challenge on Yves Bissouma.
Jones, 22, was initially booked for the tackle, which saw him plant his studs on Bissouma's shin, but referee Simon Hooper upgraded it to a red after VAR Darren England recommended he take another look.
After their 2-1 defeat, Liverpool saw fit to appeal Jones' sending off.
But their protest has been rejected and Jones will now be suspended for three matches.
Boss Jurgen Klopp will have to do without the homegrown star for upcoming games against Brighton, Everton and Nottingham Forest.
