A PREMIER League cult hero was at the heart of a 28-man brawl sparked by a footballer copying a Manchester United legend’s iconic trick.
Gary Medel was one of three players shown a red card after a scrap during Sunday’s Brazilian Serie A game between Santos and Vasco de Gama.
The former Cardiff City hothead lost his cool after Santos opponent Yeferson Soteldo showboated with his side 3-1 up in their eventual 4-1 victory.
The Venezuelan stood with both feet on the ball 55 minutes into the game, sending Vasco stars into a rage.
The scene sparked memories of former Man Utd star Andrei Kanchelskis, who pulled the same stunt during Rangers’ Scottish FA Cup semi-final over Ayr United in 2000.
However, while his skill led to a goal for his side, Soteldo’s efforts resulted in a huge brawl.
After standing on the ball, he was wiped out by Vasco’s Sebastian Ferreira in front of the Santos bench.
Players from both sides jumped up before a skirmish broke out, with Medel at the heart of it all.
The Chilean was shown a red card for his part in the fight, with Santos seeing two men sent off in exchange.
Premier League fans were left in stitches after seeing Medel still acting like a hothead at the age of 36.
