Chelsea transfer news: John Obi Mikel offered lucrative deal to join mate Oscar at Shanghai SIPG
The Nigerian could link up with former Blues boss Andre Villas Boas in Chinese Super League
CHELSEA outcast John Obi Mikel could be set to head out to the Far East in January with huge offer on the table from Shanghai SIPG.
The Nigerian has failed to make a single appearance this season for the Blues, as new manager Antonio Conte consistently overlooks him in his 3-4-3 formation.
Moneybags Shanghai SIPG are close to agreeing a whopping £400,000 a week deal for the Nigerian's Chelsea team mate Oscar for a reported fee of around £60million.
The 29-year-old representatives have been in contact with the Chinese outfit who are prepared to more than double his money from £70,000 per week to a staggering £170,000 per week.
The club are now managed by former Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas, who worked with Mikel during his eight-month spell in charge at Stamford Bridge in 2011-12.
Obi Mikel's offer from the Far East is mere loose change compared to the incredible numbers on offer in world footballs new big money player as Carlos Tevez is close to joining Shanghai Shenua on a two-year deal worth £615,000 per week.
Manchester United were linked with a move for Obi Mikel who joined Chelsea in 2006 after his initial move to United from Norwegian side Lyn was scrapped.
If Obi Mikel cashes in and moves to Shanghai to underline just how much the Chinese are flexing their financial muscles, he could be earning more than the likes of Barcelona pair Andres Iniesta who earns are reported £165,000 per week and Sergio Busquets who earns £140,000 per week.
The central midfielder has made 374 appearance for the West London side, winning two Premier League titles, four FA Cup's, two League Cup's, the Europa League and the Champions League.
