Fans ask ‘how big is the airport?’ after 15 footie stars miss flight to match after getting lost trying to buy a coffee

FANS have been left in hysterics after 15 players got lost at an airport and missed their flight - after going to buy a coffee.

LaLiga side Las Palmas face Sevilla today with their travel for the game going disastrously wrong.

The team based in the Canary Islands needed to catch a flight to Spain's mainland for their away fixture.

But 15 players were not on board for departure after they wondered off to get a coffee.

Las Palmas, who secured promotion to the top-flight last season, do not have the finances to afford a private jet for their squad.

They instead use commercial flights for their regular away day trips and a large contingent of the team missed their plane on Saturday.

Several went to get a drink and reportedly could not find their way back to the departure gate.

The flight took off with 15 of the squad and two physios not present.

A chartered jet was then sent to pick up the embarrassed stars and take them to Sevilla.

The bizarre situation left fans in stitches, one said: "How have FIFTEEN ADULTS managed to get so lost. Not one of them realised?"

Another added: "This is what your dad fears happening which is why he makes you turn up to the airport four hours early."

A third reacted: "Well that is a new one. I hope it was nice coffee."

More commented: "How big is the airport?"

It is unclear which players missed the flight but the Las Palmas squad features on loan Manchester City star Maximo Perrone, former Everton striker Sandro Ramirez and ex-Barcelona wonderkid Munir El Haddadi.
