The 6500-1 ‘miracle’ jockey having the year of her life – Saffie Osborne can win Racing League & £20,000 bonus again

WILL Saffie Osborne prove queen of the Racing League once again and pocket the £20,000 bonus at Southwell on Wednesday.

Last year it took a miracle 6500-1 treble to launch her into the lead in the final strides, but she may not need similar heroics this time around.

Sean Levey entered last year's final day with a clear lead but was unable to add to his points tally after he was stood down.

It transpired that Levey had actually not committed any offences but even with him out of the race, Osborne looked to have an impossible task.

Mission impossible began when Tregony struck at 9-2 in the second race, before Raising Sand caused a 40-1 shock to keep the dream alive.

The £20,000 miracle came to pass when Billy Mill got up in the closing stages at 28-1.

Osborne told ITV Racing at the time: "Sometimes you get a bit of luck like this. I'd never even ridden a treble before so to get a £20,000 bonus on top of it is quite nice."

This year will be a bit less complicated for Osborne, who is 61 points clear of Dylan Browne McMonagle.

He's opted to head for Punchestown on Wednesday, which means Oisin Orr is her only real danger, and he's 92 points back.

The golden highway has been laid out for Osborne and she has five chances to seal the deal.

Bits And Bobs was disappointing at Kempton over the weekend, but he's capable of better at this trip.

King Of Scotia is making his stable debut for her father Jamie and having placed off 5lb higher two runs back, it would be wise to watch the market.

Billy Mill needs no introduction and returned to form by winning at the Racing League last month. He won at last year's finale off 1lb higher under Osborne.

Hierarchy is on a very attractive mark and shaped with promise at Goodwood last time. If building on that, he's won to be excited about.

Zain Night returned to his best with a comfortable win at Goodwood last time. He's unexposed on the all-weather and rates as her best chance of the evening.

Valsad is her final chance and having gone down by a neck at Newbury when last seen, he's an obvious player despite a 4lb rise.
