JURGEN KLOPP is in among the favourites to be the next Germany manager.

That's certainly Betfair's view anyway, as they have drawn up the most likely contenders to replace axed Hansi Flick.

BETFAIR:

Flick was dismissed after the shock weekend thumping at the hands of Japan.

Rudi Voller has been placed in temporary charge with the side set to face France this week and admitted that defeat was "an embarrassment".

It follows a hugely disappointing World Cup last year, with Flick winning less than HALF of the 25 games he managed (12 wins).

Now, former Chelsea and Spurs target Julian Nagelsmann is the short price favourite to replace Flick on a long-term basis.

Nagelsmann appears to have the pick of Europe's top clubs and at just 36 years of age, he could be looking for a return to the day-to-day stuff.

Next Germany manager odds

From Betfair

  • Julian Nagelsmann 6/5
  • Oliver Glasner 4/1
  • Rudi Voller 6/1
  • Jurgen Klopp 10/1
  • Mathias Sammer 12/1
  • Ralph Hasenhuttl 16/1
  • Zinedine Zidane 25/1
  • Miroslav Klose 33/1

BETFAIR:

But he is 5/4 and tops the betting market ahead of Oliver Glasner (4/1) and temp Voller (6/1).

Then it's Klopp (10/1), who appears to have turned Liverpool's fortunes around in the last few weeks but cut a frustrated figure for large parts last season and in the lead up to the new campaign.

He also told Sky Germany in the summer: "The job of national coach is and would be a great honour - there's no question about that. The problem that stands in the way of the whole thing is my loyalty.

"I can't just leave Liverpool now and say I'll take over Germany for a short time. That doesn't work and the request isn't even there. If I'm supposed to do that at some point, then I have to be available and I'm not currently. I have a responsibility towards the club."

That could rule him out if a short-term fix ahead of next summer's home European championships is how the German FA decide to go.

Among the other contenders in the mix are former Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl (16/1), Zinedine Zidane (25/1) and Miroslav Klose (33/1).

Betfair spokesperson Sam Rosbottom said: “Jurgen Klopp is among the early contenders at 10/1 to be the next Germany manager after Hansi Flick’s sacking. Julian Nagelsmann is the 6/5 favourite to succeed Flick, while former Eintracht Frankfurt boss Oliver Glasner trails at 4/1, with Rudi Voller 6/1 for the job.”
