Horse racing tips: Templegate’s 11-2 NAP looks an absolute revelation upped in trip and can fly home at Haydock
TEMPLEGATE tackles a truly epic Saturday of racing as confident as can be of smashing in a few winners.
Read on for our man's tips and back a horse at the best price by clicking their odds below.
CAIUS CHORISTER (3.00 Haydock, nap)
He was a revelation upped in trip for the Ebor last time, finishing an excellent sixth despite trouble in running. Most recent winners of this ran at that York meeting and he has every chance off the same handicap mark.
GALLANT LION (3.10 Ascot, nb)
He pulled out all the stops to land the hat-trick at Windsor in a hot contest last time. He stays well and a 3lb rise in the weights looks more than fair.
CHINDIT (1.50 Haydock, treble)
He got the better of Light Infantry in the Lockinge earlier this season and they can battle it out. Richard Hannon’s hope will be happier back over this mile after a solid third dropped in trip for the Hungerford Stakes.

Most read in Horse Racing
CHINDIT got the better of Light Infantry in the Lockinge earlier this season and they can battle it out.
Richard Hannon’s hope will be happier back over this mile after a solid third dropped in trip for the Hungerford Stakes.
Light Infantry keeps running well in Group 1s but the slight worry is his lack of a win since 2021. He ran well in France last time and this is a drop in class.
Regal Reality is solid at this level and was beaten just half a length at Salisbury. He’s getting on a bit but looks a solid bet for the podium.
Zoology is interesting on debut for his excellent new trainer. He went close over 7f in the Jersey Stakes and should have more to come at his age.
2.25
DENMARK ran a cracker when second in the Melrose at York and he’ll be hard to beat provided this isn’t too soon 14 days later. He will improve after just one run over a staying trip.
Naqeeb comes from top-class Baaeed’s family and William Haggas will hope he’s better than a handicapper.
He had ten lengths in hand when winning his maiden at Kempton. That was over 1m4f but he wasn’t stopping.
Haggas has another chance with Lordship who scored over course and distance in July before a solid Melrose fourth. He’ll need to improve from his rising handicap mark.
Blindedbythelights should show more now upped in distance by Sir Mark Prescott and has an each-way shout but Davideo must bounce back from a poor York run when fast ground didn’t suit.

CAIUS CHORISTER was a revelation upped in trip for the Ebor last time, finishing an excellent sixth despite trouble in running.
Most recent winners of this ran at that York meeting and he has every chance off the same handicap mark.
Aztec Empire was unlucky on the Knavesmire 17 days ago, going down by a neck after being blocked. That was over two miles but he can figure dropping in distance.
Euchen Glen won this in 2020 and is still going strong at ten, including when fourth in the Ebor. He’ll be in the mix again.
Post Impressionist bounced back to form at York for William Haggas. He isn’t the most consistent but has ability over this trip.
Mr Curiosity has strong form over shorter and would have a chance if staying.
Sea King and Forza Orta are others to note after winning last time.
3.35
Shaquille looks hard to beat after his gutsy wins in the Commonwealth Cup and July Cup.
He scored despite missing the break and likes this trip. But he gets less weight from his elders now and, at the prices, SACRED is worthy of support.
She’s had just one run over this trip when a neck behind Khaadem at Royal Ascot after hitting the front too soon.
She didn’t get the run of the race over further at York and can show her true colours for William Haggas.
Being a mare, she gets a weight allowance which means she has less weight than the jolly. She can hit the frame and give the hotpot a fright.
Run To Freedom was second in the July Cup and can hit the frame again.
Mill Stream has been impressive on his past two in France. He’s only three so should be capable of better.
KEMPTON
1.35
ISRAR drops in class after beating Adayar at Newmarket last time.
He likes this trip and goes on all turf ground so there’s every chance he’ll handle the surface too.
The same connections won this last year with Mostahdaf.
Bay Bridge is the big threat as he also comes down the grades. He’s a Group 1 winner over 1m2f and is tackling this longer trip for the first time. His class can take him close.
Candleford usually runs well here and can take advantage if the other two don’t enjoy the track. He battled well to win a Listed contest at Windsor last time.
2.10
FIRST VIEW is 2lb lower than when winning this race 12 months ago and can go close again.
He was just edged out by Baltimore Boy under today’s rider here last time and he is another in with every chance in this open handicap.
There was a lot to like about the way Botas battled to score here 24 days ago and the form has been franked by the second scoring in good company since. He’s only 2lb higher so warrants respect.
Kathab is in good form and followed a handicap debut win at Haydock with a good Ripon third.
He tried to come from too far back and needs to be closer to the pace at this track. He can figure if doing that.
ASCOT
2.35
SPANGLED MAC showed a liking for this tricky trip when winning at Newbury.
He picked up strongly and should be able to cope with a 3lb rise. William Buick staying on board is a plus.
Popmaster chased him home there and is back off the same mark with an each-way shout.
Hickory went close in the red-hot International Stakes over C&D in July. He came home strongly and could run into the frame again.
Mobashr has been threatening to score and was unlucky at Newcastle last week.
He likes this trip and is a contender along with the consistent Quinault who is stepping up in distance having won six of his past seven.
3.10
GALLANT LION pulled out all the stops to land the hat-trick at Windsor in a hot contest last time.
He stays well and a 3lb rise in the weights looks more than fair.
Victory Dance is dropping down from Group and Listed races where he’s been holding his own. He was only a length away at Deauville last time and should figure.
Alsakib showed lots of promise when third on his handicap debut at Goodwood last month. He ran on over 1m2f so should enjoy this longer trip for Andrew Balding.
Dancing In Paris is a big price and keeps hitting the frame. He could do so again.
LEOPARDSTOWN
2.45
TAHIYRA looks hard to beat after her three excellent efforts this season.
After a narrow second in the 1,000 Guineas, she took the Curragh version with plenty in the tank.
And she put her rivals in their place again with a smooth success in the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot.
Dermot Weld has given her a break since those three hot contests. This mile on quick ground holds no fears and she can improve again.
Stablemate Homeless Songs could be the biggest threat. She won last year’s Irish Guineas easily before losing her way a little.
She has had a break since her second in April and can hit the frame.
Zarinsk had a bit left in the tank when winning the Group 2 Minstrel Stakes here over 7f last time and has no issues with the mile. She would like a bit of rain but should run well.
Meditate chased home the tip at The Curragh and is better than we saw in France last time.
3.20
The AUGUSTE RODIN that won the Derby would be mighty hard to stop here and he has bounced back from a blip before to score at the highest level.
He was never right at Ascot last time and can give Aidan O’Brien a fifth Irish Champion in a row.
King Of Steel’s form ties in with him and he won’t be harmed by dropping back to this distance and looks a threat.
Nashwa ran a cracker when second in the Juddmonte International over this distance at York. She looks a fair price to make the frame under Hollie Doyle.
Defending champ Luxembourg is best over this distance and wasn’t disgraced in the King George latest. He wouldn’t want the ground too quick though.
Frankie’s ride Onesto is interesting and was a decent second in this last year. He will relish stepping back up to this trip.
Alflaila is progressing well but will need another step up.
