Man, 42, arrested for ‘headbutting’ Roy Keane in attack during Arsenal vs Man Utd match

A 42-YEAR-old man has been arrested after Roy Keane was allegedly headbutted during the Arsenal and Manchester United game.

Footage emerged from inside the Emirates Stadium showing Sky Sports colleague Micah Richards pinning a fan against a wall during a altercation on Sunday.

The Met Police said: "Police are investigating an incident at Emirates Stadium on Sunday, September 3, during which a man was assaulted.

"On Monday, September 4, a 42-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault (ABH).

"The man has been taken into police custody. Enquiries are ongoing."

Keane and Richards were left shaken following the confrontation, Sun Sport understands.

Sky is also understood to now be beefing up its security moving forward.

The two Sky Sports pundits had been waiting for a lift at the top of the West Stand during the closing minutes of the match when the altercation broke out.

Keane and Richards had been making their way from a studio down to the pitchside to give their post-match thoughts as part of Sky Sports' coverage.

The pair then tried to race back to the studio after Alejandro Garnacho scored what he thought to be United's winner, before the goal was ruled out by VAR for an offside.

Keane is then alleged to have been confronted by the man, before Richards stepped in and appeared to grab the fan by the collar.

A witness told The Express that Richards was "acting like a bodyguard" for Keane, who was asking nearby staff to call police.

They were eventually escorted down to the pitch, where they continued their broadcast alongside ex-Arsenal winger Theo Walcott and presenter Dave Jones.

Keane and Richards seemed assured as they gave their thoughts on the game on Sky Sports' Super Sunday coverage.

The former United skipper even joked with Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice about how his late goal should have been deemed an own goal.

A spokesperson for Sky Sports said: "We understand the police are investigating an alleged assault by a member of the public immediately preceding the footage circulating on social media.

"In the footage seen, Micah Richards was acting to defuse a situation."

Arsenal are cooperating with authorities with the investigation underway.

A club statement added: "We are aware of an incident that took place during our match against Manchester United on Sunday.

"The Metropolitan Police is conducting an investigation into the matter and we are fully cooperating with their enquiries."

Arsenal ended up running out 3-1 winners thanks to injury time strikes from new-signing Rice and substitute Gabriel Jesus.

Marcus Rashford had earlier given United the lead, before Martin Odegaard cancelled out his strike less than a minute later.
