Defender Lucy Bronze could also be seen crying as she walked round the pitch following the trophy presentation.

Spain emerged 1-0 victors thanks to Olga Carmona's first half goal, to the dismay of England fans back home.

Cameras caught the moment Bronze's emotions got the better of her during England's lap of appreciation.

She could be seen sobbing as the Lionesses applauded the crowd whilst Spain lifted the trophy.

England fans were equally heartbroken as they reacted on social media.

One supporter tweeted: "Alex Scott crying commentating because Lucy Bronze is walking around the pitch crying. I can’t."
