ENGLAND suffer Women's World Cup heartbreak as Olga Carmona's strike wins it for Spain in the final.

Lionesses goalkeeper Mary Earps made a crucial penalty save to deny Jennifer Hermoso a second for La Roja, but it wasn't to be in Sydney.

England rattled the crossbar early on in the first half as the Lionesses started the final the better side but couldn't capitalise on their dominance.

    Spain break forward again as Bonmati makes a run into space on the right.

    She crosses the ball into the box, but it runs out to the other side.

    Paralluelo then goes for goal, but her effort is off-target.

    Another huge chance for England!

    Hemp picks up the ball in midfield and makes an excellent run forward before passing it through to Russo on the right.

    The striker sees Toone making a run into the box and sends the ball through to the six-yard box, but the midfielder completely misses her shot and is then flagged offside.

    A Spain free kick is sent into England's box.

    Paredes heads it towards goal, but Greenwood makes the interception and looks to clear.

    It falls back to Paredes, who attempts a half-volley, but her effort flies wide!

    Bronze cuts inside and makes a run into the centre circle from defence before losing the ball.

    Spain immediately look to exploit the space she left on the wing and the ball is sent over to Carmona, who breaks forward before firing her shot into the bottom-right corner!

    A low-driven cross is sent into the box.

    Paralluelo attempts to shoot but scuffs her shot and the ball instead runs to Redondo, who goes for goal at the back post.

    Earps is able to make a phenomenal save from close range.

    The Lionesses look to attack as Bronze crosses the ball into the box.

    It falls to Daly, who sets it back to Hemp on the edge.

    The forward unleashes a shot, but it rattles the crossbar!

    Spain break forward following a brilliant combination of passes.

    Paralluelo makes a run down the left before crossing the ball into the box, but Walsh is there to make the clearance.

    Hemp does an excellent job to win the ball back in defence before powering past two Spanish players and passing it through to Russo.

    But Codina is able to track back to make the interception before passing to Cata Coll.

    She sends it short to Hemp, who goes for goal, but her shot is saved by Cata Coll.

    She sets it back to Redondo, who attempts to cross it into a dangerous area, but the ball runs behind for a goal kick.

    Teen sensation Salma Paralluelo has been crucial in carrying Spain to the Women’s World Cup final.

    She scored the winning goal in extra time as La Rojas beat Netherlands 2-1 in the quarter-finals.

    And she scored again in the semi-finals as they defeated Sweden.

    Paralluelo is so talented that she was forced to choose between professional football and athletics.

    At the age of just 15, she became the second-youngest person to have ever competed at the European Indoor Athletics Championships.

    And four years on, she is about to star in a Women’s World Cup final.

    Spain have won all-but one game on their way to the Women’s World Cup final.

    La Roja suffered a humiliating 4-0 defeat to Japan in the group stages after thrashing Costa Rica and Zambia 3-0 and 5-0 respectively.

    Jorge Vilda’s side then went on to beat Switzerland and Netherlands to make it to the semi-finals, where they defeated Sweden 2-1 in a thrilling match.
