Everton complete Jack Harrison transfer on season-long loan after bizarre last-minute battle with Aston Villa

EVERTON have completed the signing of Jack Harrison from Leeds United after seeing off a late hijack attempt from Aston Villa.
The 26-year-old former Manchester City winger suffered relegation to the Championship with the Elland Road club last term.
Harrison was one of the few bright sparks for Leeds during a dismal campaign, managing six goals and ten assists in 40 appearances.
This week Everton triggered the relegation release clause in his contract for him to join them on an initial season-long loan that may turn into a permanent arrangement.
However, Aston Villa boss Unai Emery attempted a late swoop with a phone call to the ace.
But now are claiming that the Villans “had concerns over his expected recovery time from a recent injury”.

The ex-New York City FC and Middlesbrough attacker has missed the start of the season at Leeds due to a hopping issue.
That is expected to keep him out of action until at least after next month’s international break.
And that has paved the way for the Merseysiders to push ahead and complete the transfer swoop as they confirmed his arrival this morning.
Harrison completed his medical at their Finch Farm HQ yesterday before penning his deal first thing Monday.

The news will come as a huge boost for Dyche as he secured his fourth new arrival this summer after capturing forward Arnaut Danjuma, defender Ashley Young and striker Youssef Chermiti.
His team suffered a 1-0 home defeat to Fulham in their opening match of the season on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Aston Villa also endured a miserable start to the campaign as they were thumped 5-1 at Newcastle which also saw defender Tyrone Mings suffer a knee injury that now requires him to undergo surgery.
