Man Utd fans beg club to bring cult hero out of retirement with boss Ten Hag facing injury crisis for season opener
ERIK TEN HAG's deepening injury crisis has led United fans to call on the club to bring an unlikely hero out of retirement.
The Dutchman is facing a litany of injuries to deal with just days to go until United's season opener.
The Red Devils are currently without Rasmus Hojlund, Tyrell Malacia, Amad Diallo, Kobbie Mainoo, Tom Heaton and Dean Henderson.
United are now incredibly light in the goalkeeping department, particularly with club legend David De Gea having left the club on a free transfer last month.
And injuries to Heaton and Henderson have led United fans on Twitter to call for the club to sign an unlikely cult hero - Lee Grant.
Grant, 40, signed for the club in 2018 aged 35 as a third-choice keeper to boost the club's homegrown quota.

A veteran of the lower leagues, Grant brought 509 games worth of experience with him when he signed for The Red Devils - but would only go on to make two appearances for United's first team.
Grant retired from the game last summer but fans have called on the club to bring him back for one last dance amid United's injury hell.
Reacting to United's injury list, one fan joked on Twitter wrote: "Just get the legend lee grant out of retirement for a month."
Another wrote: "Bring back Lee Grant"

While a third added: "Get lee grant back 😭😭😭"
Grant now works as a first team coach at Ipswich under former United coach Kieran Mckenna.
With two goalkeepers out, United currently only have new signing Andre Onana to rely on as a senior keeper.
Matej Kovar, who came through the club's youth system, also looks set to leave the club with a transfer to Bayer Leverkusen in the offing.
With Henderson only injured short-term, there have been suggestions that his long rumoured move to Nottingham Forest may now fall through - with United keen to keep the Englishman as back up for Onana.
United will kick off their campaign at home to Aston Villa on Monday evening at 8pm.
