However, Caicedo, 20, has said no to Liverpool, with his preference being to join Chelsea.

Brighton boss De Zerbi, however, has insisted he has already "forgotten" about the midfielder and is focused on the players in his team."

During his press conference, he said: "I would like to only answer one time, I have already forgotten Moises"

"I am really proud for the players we have in the squad."

Furthermore, the Italian has insisted that he would like more players to arrive in order to "complete" his squad and also insisted that rival clubs can not buy Brighton's "soul" or "spirit".

He added: "I think we have to complete the squad; we want to improve the squad. We lost [Alexis] Mac Allister, [Levi] Colwill and Caicedo.

"I think we have to be ready for when players leave it is because they played well and for us and the club.

"I think the clubs can buy our players but they can not buy our soul or our spirit, that is not on the market."

Earlier today, Manager Jurgen Klopp had confirmed that a deal had been agreed to bring the midfielder to Anfield.

But a deal started to stall as it was claimed that Caicedo was having second thoughts about the move.

Now, the Ecuadorian international has rejected the deal as Fabrizio Romano claims the midfielder "only wants to join Chelsea".

He has also suggested that the Blues are set to bid again in order to complete a deal with Brighton.

Chelsea had been negotiating with the Seagulls over a move for Caicedo since the start of the transfer window but had failed to agree on a deal.

Meanwhile, when asked about the potential deal for Caicedo, new Blues boss Mauricio Pochettino said: "I never talk about players that don't belong to us. I am respectful.

"We are working really hard to try and add more players to the squad, we want to add quality."
