Arsenal vs Nottingham Forest: Gunners look to match Man City’s perfect start to new Premier League season – stream, TV

ARSENAL will begin their Premier League campaign at the Emirates TODAY as the Gunners take on Nottingham Forest.

Mikel Arteta's side pushed Manchester City as far as they could last season, but fell short in the final weeks as City wrapped up their historic treble.

The Gunners did manage to get one over on Pep Guardiola's side last weekend though when they kicked off their season in style by beating the Cityzens in the Community Shield.

But it's a different kind of challenge on Saturday as they welcome Nottingham Forest to the Emirates to get their league campaign underway.

Steve Cooper's Tricky Trees have a lot to prove this season if they want to cement themselves as Premier League regulars.

Forest finished in 16th place last season after narrowly escaping the drop by just four points.

The midlands club will be hoping to make a statement with an underdog away victory on the opening weekend.

Forest only managed one away win last term in the league and will be hoping they can change their fortunes with the fresh start.

Former Arsenal keeper Matt Turner could start between the sticks for Cooper and co after sealing his £7million move to the club.

But Forest will likely be more worried about the host of big money additions that Arsenal boss Arteta has added to his side.

The North London club have a fresh look about their midfield with the additions of Declan Rice and Kai Havertz.

Whilst they have added even more depth defensively with the signing of former Ajax talent Jurrien Timber.

Forest put the final nail in the coffin with regards to Arsenal's title race last season when they pulled off a shock 1-0 victory at The City Ground.

But Arsenal fans will take solace ahead of the match up that they comfortably brushed Forest aside in the home fixture last season, winning 5-0.

What is their form like?

The hosts will be on a high after beating Manchester City on penalties in the Community Shield on Sunday.

Whilst visitors Forest have had a shaky pre-season which has seen them win just two of their seven pre-season friendly fixtures.

What is the team news and any injuries to worry about?

Mikel Arteta started new signings Rice, Timber and Havertz against Man City in the Community Shield last weekend and they could all make their Premier League debuts for Arsenal on Saturday.

Striker Gabriel Jesus will miss the first few weeks of the new season as the Brazilian continues to recover from a knee injury.

Jorginho missed the Community Shield clash with Man City due to a slight muscular issue but could return this weekend.

Both Folarin Balogun and Oleksandr Zinchenko could also come back into the squad for the Forest clash.

For Steve Cooper, he is likely to be without Brazilian centre-back Felipe as he is currently out with a knee injury.

Otherwise, the Welshman should have a full squad to choose from on the opening day including new signings Turner and Anthony Elanga.

Who will be the star men?

Arsenal have got a whole host of star players who can cause Forest problems such as Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and Martin Odegaard.

But there is sure to be a keen eye on Declan Rice after his mega £105million move from West Ham this summer.

As for Forest, Morgan Gibbs-White was their most important player last season and you can expect him to be just as vital to their plans this term.

The £15million addition of Anthony Elanga is sure to be interesting too after he showed glimpses of brilliance during his time at Manchester United.

SunSport prediction

Arsenal will be bouncing after finally getting the better of Man City and with Forest having such a mixed pre-season it seems difficult to see them pulling off a surprise.

Despite Gabriel Jesus' absence there is still plenty of goals in the Arsenal side and expect them to blow Forest away with their attacking talent.
